Lately I feel like I need to stretch my wings a little, broaden my horizons, forge new frontiers...and any other cliche you can think of that means I am trying to get on board with new things. So, I'm looking for a little help! Below I've listed things I'm interested in. Please respond with something you're pretty sure most people have never heard of or things that are new and innovative. For all of your answers, please explain why you like what you do.
You can respond one of two ways: a) copy and paste the list below and your answers into a comment to add to this post; OR b) copy and paste it into a blog post of your own! Either way, you'll be doing me a great service, and maybe we can all help each other discover cool things.

I can't guarantee that any of these are new or fresh but I like them.
New read (book, magazine, etc.): Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. It is by Susanna Clarke and it was published back in 2004.
YouTube clip: The Literal Version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" followed closely by Flight of the Conchords' "Love: Your Weapon of Choice"
Board game: Ticket To Ride
Movie: Kinky Boots
Restaurant (preferrably around the SLC area): Tandori Oven, it's in Logan, sorry Annie.
Hiking spot: Adam's Canyon in Layton
Funny blog: Gurrbunzo: http://shimmygurrshimmy.blogspot.com/ I served in NY at the same time but we never served together. It might only be funny because I sort of know her.
Clothes shopping website: http://www.eshakti.com
Food (something foreign, perhaps?):
I'm really loving Indian Food right now.
Band: He's not new but I love Sondre Lerche.

Whoa! You got Jack to post! Eem-press-eeve. It WOULD take an ethical discrepancy...
Here is my short list:
New read (book, magazine, etc.): Try "The Malaria Capers". I promise you will laugh at least once. Or you can try my newest favorite book, "Life after God". It is an easy read.
Movie: "Everything is Illuminated." Makes me laugh and cry.
Restaurant (preferably around the SLC area): Bonsai, in Holladay
Hiking spot: Bells Canyon, in Sandy
Clothes shopping website: I have already given you shabbyapple.com. We can talk more later!

Annie, my dear, I can't not appeal to your sensibilities...
Website: http://www.amctv.com/originals/madmen/madmenyourself/
Restaurant: Cafe Shambala (I've never actually been, but I'd like to... and that means you're coming with me...)
TV Show: Well, everything I would recommend is already listed on my blog, but I really do think Nurse Jackie is one of the best shows out there right now. The pilot is available online. :)

Here are the ones I could come up with. What a great idea!
New read: East by Edith Pattou. It's not new but also not well known.
YouTube clip: Validation found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cbk980jV7Ao
Board game: i'm a fan of the classics - Settlers, Clue,
Trivial Pursuit, etc.(although Ticket to Ride is also great)
Movie: Hoodwinked or Stardust. neither are new, but both are less well known and good.
Funny blog: http://themeanestmom.blogspot.com/
Band: mine currently consist of what keeps Syd happy, so it's Abba and Disney.

New book: I've been getting into Jodi Picoult. Not just because she wrote My Sister's Keeper (which is a good read, by the way) but she somehow reaches into your heart and gives it a little squeeze. One of my faves: Plain Truth. Her books are kind of longer, but so worth it! Also, Shannon Hale. She's typically a Young Adult writer, but her books are so so so good! Any of her books are worth the time.
Board Game: Ticket to Ride
Movie: I may not be of any help here. I've had a run of bad movie watching experiences. Still, of the more enjoyable ones: Monsters vs. Aliens, Obsessed (watch only if you're in the mood to see Beyonce kick some trash), and one of my favorites The Family Stone.
Hiking: The Bonneville trail! Bike or hike it, either way, its enjoyable.
Funny Blog: Not really funny, but its has pretty/shiny things. http://nicolehill.blogspot.com
Clothes shopping website: I am a big fan of Etsy. You can find local things to order and pick up to save on shipping or you can buy things from, like, Australia.
Food: I heart Indian and Thai food right now.
Band: hm...hard one. I really enjoy Matt Costa, Grant Lee Phillips and Brendan James. Not really bands, but still very good!
